Henri Daniel Guyot (1753-1828) was a minister of the Walloon congregation in Groningen. He considered education for the deaf important. Therefore, on April 14, 1790, he founded the first Institute for the Deaf in the Netherlands together with Hora Siccama, Van Olst and Van Calcar in Groningen. The school had 14 students.
